Cogrity

Defined

The human frame exemplifies a unity—which we term cogrity—that coordinates the vital push and pull of opposing muscles forces seamlessly into whole-body movements. The biceps never turns around and pulls in the direction of the triceps. The triceps never turns around and pulls in the direction of the biceps. They both maintain integrity toward their biased inclination, but in health, they create a range of movements. Sometimes this pair of muscles throws a softball with the triceps predominating, and sometimes they pull a teacup to the lips with the biceps predominating. The key is that they learn to coordinate, both yielding and activating on differing finely gradated levels to achieve a range of movements. If we could apprehend this multi-vectoral type of unity, perhaps we could begin to grow a hopeful thought life about how to cultivate our own type of synchronous antagonism.
